    Iconography
A half-length Virgin, slightly turned towards the Child whom she is carrying on her left arm, her right half raised in a gesture of adoration; the harmoniously folded veil, decorated with pearl lozenges, covers a thick head of hair. The Child, of handsome stature, his forehead covered with a high head of hair, is shown from the front, wearing the chiton and the himation, blessing and holding a closed scroll. The trace of the cross can be seen in the crushed nimbus, which partly covers the halo of pearls of the Theotokos.
